Valuable online resources and apps for new sailing students

April 30, 2019 9:56 AM | Anonymous

Many new students experience a steep learning curve with nautical vocabulary and beginning sailing concepts. Fortunately, online resources and "apps" are readily available to support a student's sailing skills. The following YouTube link provides a basic tutorial on the basics of sailing, including terminology and points of sail:

Additionally, students can access apps  to evaluate current weather, wind, and tides. The following screenshot includes icons for a variety of apps that help a sailor evaluate weather conditions, ensuring a safe and fun adventure on the water. Ask your instructors about their favorite sailing app or online resource.  Happy sailing!

P.S. Thanks to TWSA student, Cathy Cloran, for sharing the YouTube link.
